Movie Reviews: Skyfall, Cloud Atlas, Breaking Dawn Part 2

This was the weekend of moviegoing. I ended up seeing three new releases. I don't know if thats good, or if it means I need to get a life and get out more.

Pete had off on Saturday, which virtually NEVER happens, so we decided to go to the movies for the day. Yes, we make a day of it.

First we saw this movie:

I have never seen a James Bond movie before this one, and was a little leary of going to see it. I hate when I see a movie in a series but dont see the original and am completely lost with the plot. Pete assured me that I didn't need to see any of the others in order to follow it, and tried to bribe me to go by saying "you'll love it because Adele sings the theme song." Um really? Since when am I a huge Adele fan?

Anyway...I went because I was tired of listening to him talk about it. I'm glad I did. It was actually pretty good and entertaining. For some reason, I love to watch movies that take place in other countries (nerd alert), and this was defiantly did that. All in all, I give it a 4 out of 5 on the Bethany Movie Rating Scale.

Next up was Cloud Atlas.

You know, this one:

I can't really tell you what this movie was about because I still don't know. Yea, it was probably the worst movie I have seen in a long time. Going into it, I knew that it had something to do with running into the same people throughout different time periods and centuries and stuff, but the movie didn't tie any of them together. It was just plain pointless and weird. I give it a 0 out of 5. Seriously, do not see this movie, you will want your $12 back.

And finally, the best for last. Sunday I saw this:

Yea, thats right. I got to stare at Robert Pattenson for like 2 whole hours.

Growl.

This movie was good, and having never read the final book of the series, I really didn't know what to expect. I loveddddddd it (although I have to admit, Jacob being around the Cullens ALL THE TIME, started to get a little creepy, even if he did "imprint" on Renesmee.  On the Bethany Movie Rating Scale its a 5 out of 5.

I am sad that the series of movies is finally over, but now I have the hunger games trilogy to look forward to when the next one comes out next November.

When I think about it, November 2013 seems soo far away, but this time next year my little man will already be 8 months old! EEEK!!!!

Beach Weekend!

This past weekend, I went to the beach with some of my closest girlfriends from college. It was a great way to ring in summer!

We spent our time drinking yummy libations:

Walking on the boardwalk and laying on the beach:

and taking cute pictures:
We even got our picture taken with this guy:

And raided a Baltimore Ravens tailgate party (yes, in June. Apparently it was "Ravens Pride" weekend or something...)

Did anyone else go away this weekend? Or get their picture taken with a weird beer mascot?! I'd love to hear about it!

Dont want no short short....weekend.

How come three day weekends always go by at the speed of a two day weekend? Seriously, where did the time go. One minute I'm pulling out of the parking lot at work looking forward to a relaxing weekend filled with sun, and the next, I'm pulling into the parking lot at work recovering from it.

Pshhhhhhh.

Saturday I went to a bridal shower for my cousin's fiance, and won these cute gifts:

I am going to keep the bride and groom set and try to figure out how to make them myself so that I can use them in the future! Such a cute idea, and a bonus with the bottle of wine!!!!

I won the above prizes because our table won the "dress someone up in a toilet paper wedding gown" contest. It is exactly how it sounds. You get a role of toilet paper (new, of course) and dress someone from your group up in it in a wedding dress. Our dress was awesome. We went for the Grecian/Boho theme. My sister was the lucky one we got to do this to (you can't tell from this picture, but there is a one shoulder strap and even a train. #Boom.

Yesterday the Hubby and I went to two cookouts for which I made these tasty treats (thanks to Pinterst of course) :

Here is a cute shot of us at the second barbeque:

That about sums it up. I got my beach bag in the mail today and can't wait for this weekend to use it!

I hope you all had a fun and safe Memorial Day!

ECWhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???

ECW…have you heard of it? Because up until this weekend, I had no clue what it was.

It stands for Extreme Championship Wrestling (yes, wrestling). How do I know this you ask? Because I was there. Saturday night. At the ECW Reunion Show.

I went with the hubby, his brother, and his brother’s girlfriend. Thank gosh she was there, otherwise I would have been the only woman in the place. I’m not into wrestling, but obviously I begged the Hubster to let me go with him because....well…just because. I will never make that mistake again.

So ECW. Its not just like wrestling that you see on TV (although in the late 90s it was apparently), but with this type there are no rules. I never knew what the rules in regular wrestling were, but let me just give you a few examples of how this type works. Htting each other with folding chairs. Slamming each other into a railing. Jumping off of ladders. And so on…and so on…and so on…All acceptable moves in the ECW. And its all fun and games until someone gets smacked over the head with a picture of my face. Yes, you heard me correctly.

REWIND….

So back in college, the hubby was in the Army overseas, and had gifts sent directly to me for my birthday or holidays or whatever without seeing them first. One particular gift that he sent me was a canvas portrait of myself. Weird right? Well, the seemingly simple photograph (and a good one of me if I do say so myself) that he uploaded to the portrait website for the order was butchered by the portrait company into something with three chins, weird teeth, and a slew of other oddities. It was supposed to be something like an Andy Warhol piece, but the company was obviously confused about what an Andy Warhol piece actually looks like.

So I get the picture in the mail, thank the hubby for it (I didn’t want to be rude),  put it in the back of my closet, and forget about it.

FAST FORWARD to 2011….

I was cleaning out my closet one day and came across the “portrait.” The hubby was with me, and I wish I had a photograph of what his face looked like. IT. WAS. HILARIOUS.

It then became an inside joke for us. He asked if he could have the picture back, and that was the end of it…or so I thought….

Then it started showing up in places randomly……the wall of someones house….a halloween party decoration…..the Hubby’s bachelor party on the docs crabbing…..

Its most recent appearance was this past weekend. TWICE. First at my work happy hour (because the hubster JUST HAD to try and embarrass me with my new team) and then again at the ECW show. It was supposed to be the demise of the picture.

The plan was to get the picture to one of the wrestlers as they were going on, and then have them smash it over each other’s heads. Kind of like “going out with a bang.”

Well.

We got it to the wrestlers. They even used it as a weapon against each other. BUT THE DANG THING WOULDN’T BREAK!!!!!! I swear it’s the curse of me, and it will be around forever. It’s a little dented, but the canvas wasn’t even torn. UN. BE. LIEVABLE.

I wish I had a better picture to show you, but all I have is this picture of the Hubster holding it up before the show (I promise I will get better at taking pictures!)

The only bonus of the night: No line for the Women's bathroom! Ladies Unite!!!!

So in a nutshell, that was my weekend. What have you all been up to? Does anyone else have a weird item that seems to follow them around through life???
