TV Shows and the Olympics

As I sit here at home watching "Chopped," I'm beginning to realize that I have no TV show to watch anymore. Mad Men is over, and I can't watch my usual summer show, "True Blood," because we no longer have HBO  (although two of my girlfriends have been DVRing it for me so I need to get to their house to watch it ASAP).

I know I should be proactive with my life and not depend on television as my only source of entertainment, but sometimes a girl just wants to sit in front of a tv, watch a show, and eat ice cream. I just wish I still had a "show" to watch. Usually, I find myself flipping between three channels: HGTV, The Travel Channel, and The Food Network, but I feel like all the shows on them I can just pick up and watch whenever I want without having seen the previous episodes. I want something that has a plotline and a following, and I'm pretty sure that the summertime is the worst time to start looking for this...

On a side note, the Olympics are coming soon! I. LOVE. THE. OLYMPICS. Its the one time I can watch TV at all hours of the night, and something interesting will be on. I also like to pretend that I am an expert in the sport that I am watching, and comment on it like a pro while yelling at the TV. Some of my favorite sports to follow during this time are gymnastics, diving and tennis.

What have you been watching on the boob tube lately? What sport(s) will you be following this Olympic season?

Movie Reviews: Rock of Ages and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

In the past four days, I have seen two movies in the theater. One that was my choice, one that was the Hubby's choice. I'll let you decide which was which.

Rock of Ages

Honestly I wasn't expecting it to be soo cheezy. I should know by now that any movie with Russel Brand in it is subject to the cheeze, but for some reason I thought this one would be different. All that aside, it was a fun movie though. It ended with Dont Stop Believin. If you know me, you know that this is an automatic plus in my book. On top of that, there were three Journey songs total! I loved being able to sing along with most of the movie. And although I"m not a Tom Cruise fan normally, something about him in this movie made me want to rethink my decision. On the Bethany Movie Rating Scale, I give this a 3 out of 5. I wanted it to be a 5 soo bad, but it was just too too cheezy. Sorry to disappoint.

and

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

To say that this movie was a disappointment would be accurate...if I had any hopes for it in the first place. I obviously did not choose to see this movie. The whole movie can be summed up by the following: Abraham Lincoln turns into a Vampire Hunter and is such throughout the entire Civil War. I like to call it a ninetieth century Buffy the Vampire Slayer, although Buffy would score higher on my list. The only bonus of this movie was the soundtrack, which was pretty great! All in all, I give this a 1 out of 5 on the Bethany Movie Rating Scale. Boom.

While at the movies, I saw previews for two more that I want to see ASAP: Magic Mike and The Katy Perry Movie. More to come after they come out!!!

Beer in Mexico?!

Okay so I haven't posted in over a week. I suck. And apologize.

Anywhooo....

I went to the Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw concert last Saturday.

IT. WAS. AWESOME.

Here are a few pics from the day:

Me and my sister waiting for the concert to start.

My sister and I again. This way you can see our sweet cowgirl outfits.

My mom, me and my sister at the tailgate.

My friend Amy and her daughter Maddie at the tailgate. Fun times!

My concert ticket. Just in case you didn't believe me.

Tim McGraw on the big screen sporting an all white ensemble. Sexyyyy.

Kenny Chesney

Kenny and Tim at the end.

All in all it was a great time! I got to hear Kenny sing Beer in Mexico live, and I have been blaring it in my car nonstop. I also decided that Tim McGraw is my new old man crush. Growl. In addition, I'm currently looking for any excuse under the sun to wear my sweet cowgirl hat.

What concerts have you been to lately? I'd love to hear about them!

Bad Day pick me up

I'll be honest. I had a bad day today. One of those days where I just wanted to stay in bed all day, so it was a bonus that I had off of work. I'll spare you the details, but lets just say I was in desperate need of a "pick me up." And for me, that comes in the form of this:

A Chick Fil A chocolate milkshake.

Glorious, cold, chocolaty, frozen goodness topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Seriously, what do they put in them that makes them taste soo much better than all the others?! I know they say that you shouldn't eat your feelings, but trust me, this was worth the extra 5 pounds I gained in the 3 minutes it took me to gulp it down. And I don't get enough dairy anyway, so I considered it my calcium for the day.

What is your go-to pick me up food for bad days????

Summer Lovin Sunday...

Here are a few things I've been obsessed with lately....

Starbucks Mocha Cookie Crumble.
Its mocha. And cookies. And CHOCOLATE whipped cream. What's not to like?

My Kindle.
Dont get me wrong, my Kindle is awesome all year long, but there is something about reading outside in the summertime that makes it that much better (especially when I'm reading 50 Shades and don't want others to know). Even if I"m not at the beach...

Summer Cardigans.
Seriously, I have one of these in every color. They are soo easy to throw over a sundress when it gets colder at night (or if you're cold all the time like I am).

Monorammed anything.
Right now, I am in the market for a necklace like this one.

What have you  been loving lately? I'd love to know!!!!

Costume Partayyyyyyy

I'm going to a halloween party in 3 weeks.

Yes, you heard that correctly. Halloween. You know, my favorite day of the year.

Okay, well maybe its just a costume party, but either way it calls for an excuse to get dressed up.

Now, I need a costume, and here is what I"m deciding between:

Black Widow, from the Avengers (which I mentioned before)

or...

Dora the explorer

Tough choice, I know. I  am leaning more towards Dora only because its a summer party. A black widow costume may be a little hot for July. Plus, a Dora outfit may be easier to put together considering I dont have very long to put it together.

I'll keep you updated on what I decide....

Beach Weekend!

This past weekend, I went to the beach with some of my closest girlfriends from college. It was a great way to ring in summer!

We spent our time drinking yummy libations:

Walking on the boardwalk and laying on the beach:

and taking cute pictures:
We even got our picture taken with this guy:

And raided a Baltimore Ravens tailgate party (yes, in June. Apparently it was "Ravens Pride" weekend or something...)

Did anyone else go away this weekend? Or get their picture taken with a weird beer mascot?! I'd love to hear about it!
